A 1,600-acre industrial park with numerous industrial sites available, Strother Field is located on U.S. Highway 77, halfway between Cowley County’s two primary cities, Arkansas City and Winfield.

With more than 25 manufacturing and service related occupants, Strother Field is home to companies such as General Electric Engine Services, Columbia Elevator Solutions Inc., Morton Buildings, Greif Inc., Winfield Consumer Products/Husky Liners, Western Industries-Plastic Products Group Inc. (formerly KSQ Blowmolding), and numerous others.

Services such as the Kansas Department of Transportations driver’s license office, Cowley County Mental Health and the Cowley County Humane Society are also located in this area.

One of the recent additions is a new movie complex, Cowley Cinema 8, which serves the entire region.

Strother Field is only 20 minutes from I-35 and approximately 45 miles southeast of the Wichita metropolitan area. The facility is identified as a regional airport within the Kansas Aviation System Plan, which allows Strother Field to accommodate regional economic activities, connecting to state and national economies, and to serve all types of general aviation activity.

The airport has two runways that accommodate corporate business jets, multi-engine aircraft and single-engine aircraft. Its primary runway is 5,506 feet long; the secondary runway is 3,150 feet long.

The field has on-site weather reporting. The airport’s primary runway is equipped with an ILS approach, both of which provide access during most weather conditions.

Goff Industrial Park is a 450-acre park located just north of the city limits of Arkansas City. Tenants of this industrial park include Creekstone Farms Premium Beef, a processing facility employing more than 600.

The City of Arkansas City has made major improvements to the roads, water and sewer services at this site. Land is available for new construction, ranging in lots from one to 75 acres at prices considerably below that of metropolitan areas.

The city is eyeing parts of Goff as a possible redevelopment district, which would open the door to financial incentives for new development.

Water is served by the City of Arkansas City, and gas and electric are provided by Westar Energy/Kansas Gas Service.

The industrial park is located less than one mile from U.S. Highway 77 and is only 20 minutes from I-35.

Located on the east side of Winfield, the Winfield Industrial Park is home to Galaxy Tool, Coca-Cola, Clock Medical Supply, Webster Manufacturing, Cates Supply, S&Y Industries, Wire Plus, Nelson Machine and Welding, Pray Stone and Fluid Kinetics.

Other corporate members of the Winfield family of industries in Phase II of the Winfield Industrial Park include Rubbermaid Home Products, with more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing and warehousing facilities in Winfield, and MeadWestvaco/ Calmar, the world’s manufacturing leader in dispensing products.

Utt Business and Industrial Park was developed adjacent to the Winfield Industrial Park by the City of Winfield in 2005. The first business to locate in the new development was Schwan’s Distribution Center. InSite Real Estate constructed a 660,000 square-foot Rubbermaid distribution center in 2007 and BTR/RobotZone completed its facility in 2010.

The 55 acre site is zoned to M-1 Light Industrial and platted to promote and maintain the highest and best use of lots commensurate with the development objectives of the City. Covenants for the Park were designed to create a cohesive development providing opportunities for individual needs and creative design for each project.
