NetWork Kansas has published a helpful book: Steps to Success – A Resource Guide to Starting a Business in Kansas. You may contact us and we will by happy to send you a copy of the book and assist you in starting your new business. Within this document, you will find answers to many basic questions about starting a business. This book contains definitions of the business structures available in Kansas, links to other State and Federal Agencies, commonly used forms, a partial list of required business licenses, and much more. 

Small Business Administration (SBA)

Another useful source is the SBA - U. S. Small Business Administration. This site has additional resources and information for starting a business with step-by-step writing of a business plan.  There is also in depth information for financing your business; including, basic financing topics, eligibility topics, and loan topics.  After you have your business plan and financing completed, there is also very useful information  on managing your business; including, management topics, leadership topics, and marketing topics.

SCORE- Counselors to Americas Small Business:

SCORE is also a valuable resource to get one-on-one assistance.  Contact our local SCORE organization at the Winfield Chamber of Commerce at 221-2420 or visit their web page to search for questions or get business advice from a business counselor via email.

Kansas Small Business Development Center

The KSBDC Cowley College Outreach Center provides high quality, one-on-one business management counseling, education programs and practical information that enable small businesses to effectively compete in today's market. They also offer various seminars/workshops that interest small business owners, review their schedule here. The CC KSBDC is a partnership between Cowley First - Cowley County Economic Development Partnership, Sumner County Economic Development Commission Wichita State University and Cowley College.
